Artone разказва за проекта „Sound of Safety“ на Kaspersky Lab.

Written by on 24.07.2018

Sound of Safety„.

Electric Café Studio.

Chris Sauer!

Eddie Amador)!

Back in 2017 I was invited by my friend, colleague and head of the beloved Diamondhouse Records—Chris Sauer a.k.a BK Duke and Kaspersky Lab (Moscow) to participate in an unusual and yet brilliant project for Starmus Festival in Trondheim, Norway.

The guys from Kaspersky Lab asked 50 different people what sound makes them feel safe?

And the „Sound of Safety“ project was born.

I was given 50 different sounds, recorded in our everyday environment and surrounding nature—everything from a starting F1 bolid engine, pouring beer, hammer and nails, sea waves, purring cat, locking a door etc.

The goal was to create a track using these sounds by twisting and manipulating so they can sound like real instruments. Sounds great, right?

I decided to involve my buddy Boyan Angelov, a.k.a Boyan Music in this project, because when it comes to getting freaky with sounds, he is one the best creative minds I’ve ever known!

We got together in the studio and we got to work. Each one of us have a different approach but our attitude towards music is the same.

So we told each other that no matter what came out, it would fully represent what we were as people and producers. Unlike the club vibes that we usually produce, this time we decided to go for a more downtempo sound… through our own prism. Almost the entire selection of percussion, beats, special effects and background sounds were created with the sounds that we were given. A hammer hitting an anvil as a snare, a door being shut as a kick, a clock ticking, beer foam, a bottle of soda being opened and rattling keys are some of the sounds we used for cymbals, hi-hats and shakers; the entire groove of the rhythm came from these sounds. Could you figure out where we put a woman sighing, a cat purring and a drop of water in a bathtub? After we created the groove we got to work on the harmony. Each of us left his magic signature and little secrets in this composition, which became our Sound of Safety. We entrusted the mastering to Chris Sauer of Electric Café Studio.

I was further invited to go to Trondheim, Norway for a live DJ act with BK Duke (Germany) and DJ FAVORITE (Russia) for the opening night of Starmus Festival, where I had the chance to present our track at Kaspersky Lab’s panel. We had an open discussion with the American astronomer and the former director of the SETI Institute (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Research, Jill C. Tarter, the owner of Diamondhouse Records, Chris Sauer, another colleague of mine and fellow producer, DJ Favorite. Povel Torudd and Rainer Bock from Kaspersky Lab and talked about sounds that make us feel safe, manipulating sound waves, sounds in space, inspiration and off course—music! It was truly the best professional experience as a DJ and producer I’ve had so far! And it was all possible thanks to Kaspersky Lab, Diamondhouse Records, Rainer Bock and Chris Sauer!

So, for their 20th anniversary Kaspersky Lab decided to release a limited edition of 500 vinyls with the Sounds of Safety, produced by 10 producers and DJs all around the world (including the House music legend Eddie Amador)!
